I’ve been trying to get info on my 1967 (march) 360 /6 in Azureglo serial GC 1285 the inside cavity is marked 365 j the question is was this a transitional anomaly pulled and converted to 360 in Azureglo at the factory when I put the details in AI google it said that was the case but I’ve never had it confirmed I brought it from Mike n mikes guitars in 2025 and shipped it to Australia in Perth were I live the reverb add suggested the finish was so good could only be factory if anyone has any views on this I would be very grateful.Ardy from oz🇦🇺
First the 365 bit: bodies were usually marked the “highest” number they could be—there are plenty of 360s marked 365. That doesn’t surprise me. Re: the “j”, that’s a paint batch code, means nothing significant. Re: the AZG, here’s what the register listing says: “This guitar started life as Mapleglo and was refinished in Azureglo at some point - whether a "factory refin" or not is not clear from the description, though Rickenbacker factory refin is very unlikely.” Not sure where that info came from, but it feels likely to me.
I don’t think the register is an accurate description of this guitar not enough detail and there’s no proof of a maple finish many experts have looked at the paint on this guitar an mention the pooling on the margins to be factory correct that register was done in 2023 I believe and is a brief opinion anyway I will investigate further thanks for your input Ardy 🇦🇺
Hey…in this era never say never! It would make this one of the very first Azureglos ever, if not the first—by quite a bit—which is why I’m a little skeptical. But given that I’m an AZG fanatic I’m pulling for you!
I’ve been searching your site and trying to confirm, was there a 360 6 string with a flat top like the 330 with binding on the top, like the 360/12 George Harrison played? If so was that 360 Version 1 above the first version with the rounded top? Would like to know more about the design history on the round top version - who designed it, what was the inspiration?
The answer is yes…my complete 360 timeline should go up in the week or so and answer all your questions. That guitar is referred to as a 360OS…check the complete model guide for pics
That timeline isn't correct. Maybe you're not counting the transition to include 12 strings? But even if that's the case I'm not sure that timeline is right...
Some of the guitars here I own, and you're you're not describing them correctly...
I like the versions/descriptions you did, but I'd just delete the timeline and this would be more useful/accurate...
Excellent point, I meant to call out this was about 6-strings only…I have gone back and edited to make that clear. I feel pretty good about the timeline in that context, but am always open to correction—especially if you have a guitar I’m using as a reference!
