I love this post - I mean, I'm looking at my Ric-o-sound 4003 right now - but what I was really hoping for was "this is what it actually did for the sound, and here's who did use it, and why it's so distinctive. And here're the people who ignored it, and why, beyond 'OMG It's a pain to use.'" ... because it IS a pain to use.
Darn! I wish I kept my gray Rick-O-Sound box. I sold it for about $15 in the 1970s.
